For the love of BOOKS

To launch Book Week at kindergarten we welcomed celebrated children’s book author and ex-LFK parent, Samantha Smith, for a fun session reading her book Harriet’s Hungry Worms, and engaging everyone with all things wormy!

This funny, engaging eco story invites the children to follow the adventures of Harriet’s ravenous compost worms as they munch their way through their wide and wonderful weekly menu. Packed with worm facts, Harriet’s Hungry Worms is the ideal companion for worm warriors and curious composters keen to roll their sleeves up and put their kitchen food scraps to good use.

Melissa Johns, has used recycled materials throughout the book to create the delightful collage-style illustrations.

We continued the ‘worm’ theme during Book Week with some fun arty activities.

This is one of our favourite weeks at LFK – thanks Samantha for such a fun session!

Centenary Week and the 100-year Party Celebrations

“Oh what a week…and what a night!”

In the third week of June the kindergarten community and children came together to celebrate 100 years of LFK with a week jam-packed with activities.

From dress up day to art workshops, from treasure hunts to displays of 100 years of kindergarten memories and milestones, everyone joined in to mark this milestone.

With wonderful activities we’ve been able to truly celebrate this milestone for our special community kindergarten culminating in our fabulous party on the Friday.

Our Events Team of Amber, Philippa, Penny, Lee-Ann (and our raffle wizard Uno) along with staff and parent helpers created an amazing week and party night to remember for children and families alike!

Thank you to our generous local business community for supporting our raffle.

Well done and thank you one and all for all the very hard work that has gone into these memorable celebrations.
