Allison Prasser

Allison Prasser

Director, Nominated Supervisor and Extended Hours Kindergarten Teacher
Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies, The University of Melbourne

Allison is the Director and Nominated Supervisor of Lady Forster Kindergarten. She is also the kindergarten teacher in our Extended Hours Program.

With over 20 years of experience as a kindergarten teacher, Allison has been with Lady Forster Kindergarten since its earlier days in Port Melbourne and treasures the historic links back to the kindergarten’s beginnings back in 1924.

Allison has been central in the development of LFK’s coastal curriculum encouraging children’s connection to the local bush and foreshore of Elwood. Her commitment to play-based learning philosophies pervades all aspects of the kindergarten, “helping to prepare the children for life, not just for school”.

Highly regarded by her peers in the profession, Allison currently chairs the local Kindergarten Teachers’ Network in the City of Port Phillip.

Amy (Jingchun) Zhang

Amy (Jingchun) Zhang

Activity Group Leader
Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies, Monash University

Amy works mainly in our Extended Hours and Friday Care Programs during term time but also assists with lunch cover in the Sessional Kindergarten program.

She is our After-Care Coordinator and will be one of the welcoming faces you’ll see in the Extended Hours program working till close each day at 6 pm. Amy also creates and leads the Holiday Programs delivered in each term break and loves to encourage children’s learning and development, self-esteem and individuality, whilst having lots of fun!

As a qualified teacher, Amy is able to step-in when teaching staff are on leave or attending professional development courses.

As enrolments reached capacity, we were fortunate to have Emma join our Extended Hours Program at the beginning of 2018 and she has quickly become an integral part of the team. Emma is on site early every morning greeting the children in this program. Emma also assists in delivering our Holiday Program. She has worked in the Early Childhood field for 7 years in different areas from sessional kindergartens to child care centres. Emma loves spending weekends and holidays down at the beach and at her parent’s property with her two dogs.

Graduate Diploma in Education (Early Childhood), Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology

Claire Wilson worked for LFK throughout 2017 as a relief educator and became a permanent member of our team for 2018. You will see Claire in the afternoons in our Extended Hours program and as lunch cover in our Friday Care Program. Claire has completed a Bachelor of Performing Arts and a Graduate Diploma in Education (Early Childhood) She has also studied nutrition and French – she loves learning! Claire is also mother of a 7-year-old son who is a source of inspiration and many resources for her teaching practice!

As a qualified teacher, Claire is able to step-in when teaching staff are on leave or attending professional development courses.

Adric Small

Adric has a long history with Lady Forster Kindergarten initially as a casual educator and then as a permanent Co-educator in the Extended Hours Program. Adric works with Amy covering the later part of each day and also works in the Holiday Program in each term break. Adric’s long association with the kindergarten and families is well regarded.

We are fortunate to have two permanent part-time staff that share the early starts in the Extended Hours Program. Mary Jane (or ‘MJ’), as she is known to everyone, worked as a casual relief in 2017 and joined the Extended Hours team permanently from 2018 – a familiar face to the children who start early in the program on Thursdays and Fridays.

MJ will shortly commence study towards a Diploma qualification.

MJ has enjoyed a long association with LFK – her children attended kindergarten at LFK when they were little. She has a passion and curiosity for life and all that it holds – she enjoys yoga, cooking, good food and connections with family and friends.

Sessional Kindergarten

Liza Taylor

Liza Taylor

3 and 4 Year Old Sessional Kindergarten Teacher
Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies, Monash University

Liza joined our team at the beginning of 2017 bringing with her over 15 years’ experience in early childhood education. She teaches both 3 and 4 Year Old Sessional Kindergarten programs at the kindergarten and believes children are capable and need ‘hands-on’, real life experiences to build self-confidence and resilience.

She loves the location of the kindergarten, nestled in the bush and beach surrounds, enabling the children to develop a deep and respectful love of nature through their time at the kindergarten.

Certificate III in Children’s Services, Gowrie Victoria

Saara Bite has been with Lady Forster Kindergarten for over 11 years Saara has enjoyed seeing families of siblings pass through the kindergarten. She brings a wealth of experience to her role assisting Liza Taylor in the Sessional Kindergarten programs for 3 and 4 year old children.

Saara works Monday to Thursday in these programs.

Julie manages the administration, operations and compliance side of the kindergarten and is the ‘go to’ person for enrolments, bookings and the paperwork aspects of LFK.
