four year old sessional kindergarten program

All children in Victoria are eligible to access a funded kindergarten program in their year before school. To enrol in a funded kindergarten program, your child must be at least four years old by 30 April in the year they will attend the program.

In the four-year-old sessional program our aim is to build children’s life skills and foster their joy for learning through our vibrant and creative play-based curriculum in readiness for the transition to school. We run an indoor/outdoor program and value our challenging outdoor learning space to develop children’s resilience and self-esteem. At LFK we pride ourselves on our connection to the foreshore area and the children go out at least once a week to explore our beach setting. During our beach explorations we aim to develop the children’s appreciation for the natural world and include Indigenous perspectives and sustainability.

The class consists of nineteen children with two educators. Liza is the Kindergarten Teacher and Saara is the Co-Educator. The program is delivered over two 6-hour and one 3-hour sessions per week – a total of 15 hours per week. We value being outside in all seasons so children bring warm clothing in winter and gum boots are best for rainy weather especially on the beach walks! Families provide their children with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
