three year old sessional kindergarten program
At Lady Forster Kindergarten our aim is to provide children with a warm, welcoming and vibrant learning environment. We view children as capable and believe in building children’s self-esteem and social skills through our challenging and creative indoor and outdoor spaces.
We offer separate programs for 3 and 4 year olds enabling us to provide age-appropriate programs for each age group. Much of our focus in three-year-old kindergarten is supporting children to build strong bonds with their teachers and peers as this helps children to develop a sense of belonging.
The kindergarten follows and highly values our play-based philosophies. During the two 3-hour sessions each week the children are provided with as much uninterrupted play time as possible. We structure the session in a way that gives children the power to manage their time and play according to their needs. The kindergarten strives to include Indigenous perspectives in the children’s learning as well as sustainable practises.
We have nineteen children in the group with two educators, Liza Taylor is the Kindergarten Teacher and Saara Bité is the Co-Educator. Children bring a piece of fruit daily to share with the group. Some children prefer to bring a lunch box with them for morning tea. We run an indoor/outdoor program and encourage the children to go out in the fresh air in all seasons so warm clothing is needed in winter and gum boots are great for exploring puddles!
